Our Class British Value for Autumn Term 2
'Knowing right from wrong'
Our Class British Value for Autumn Term 1
'Contributing to the community'
Our focus this term was 'Contributing to the community', we have been working hard on the following projects.
The Macmillan Coffee Morning
We planned, organised and hosted the coffee morning for the whole school community. It was a wonderful event and we all had a great time eating cakes and talking to our guests.
The Harvest Delivery
We delivered Harvest gifts around the village, visiting the elderly members of the community.
The Brick Project
We wrote to the school community and asked for donations for the food bank. We have studied a text called 'Way Home' about a homeless child. From this we have researched charities who support the homeless. The Brick Project food bank collects donations and provides food parcels to people in need.
We sorted all of the food donations into categories and Mr Hutchinson delivered them to food banks in Wigan and Horwich. We will be visiting the food banks later in the term to learn more about these fantastic charities.
We have sold Poppies and Poppy themed items to the school community, promoting Remembrance day and the importance of commemorating those who have fought and died for us in war.
Our Y6 Blackrod School Value is UNIQUE.
We celebrate everything that makes us the individuals that we are.
In class we have written acrostic poems to reflect our personalities and what makes each one of us unique.
