Autumn term.

This week in DaVinci class we have been continuing with our multiplication and division work. In English, we have started work on our new book 'The Stone Age Boy' and have looked at different settings. We have also been investigating with magnets in Science.

The children have had a great day for children in need and enjoyed their fitness assembly this morning, thank you for sending in your donation.

Linking Project- we are going to be working with another school and completing fun activities and work. On the 7th December we will be going to Bolton College to take part in different workshops with our linking school and will be getting to know them better. A letter will be sent home shortly with more details.

Home learning- this week our spellings are based on Adverbs these will be tested next Friday. It is also important the that children are reading three times a week. There are still children who have not had their diaries signed. I have been testing times tables this week and it is apparent which children have been practising at home, keep practising.

Thank you for your support,

Da Vinci team.

We have had such a busy week this week with lots of great activities. We loved our workshop on Monday and were engaged throughout the day. Have a look on twitter and the class web page to see what we got up to. We also had a great Diwali day on Wednesday- sampling traditional food, Bollywood dancing and creating Indian Art. This week we have been focusing on Remembrance and have written poems, created posters on Word and have completed some fantastic artwork.

Thank you to those who have sent in a purple donation, the children always enjoy wearing their own clothes, (especially looking at each others football tops).

Our spellings for this week focus on homophones. These spellings are ones that children often misspell and get confused with the meaning. If you can practise any other homophones then that would be great also. Just a reminder to make sure all children are reading at least 3 times a week and practising times tables.

Have a lovely weekend,

Da Vinci team.

We have started our new topics this week and have been looking at magnetic materials. We have also been making bonfire night shape poems and multiplying in maths. The children are very excited for our Stone Age to Iron Age workshop on Monday. It will be a full day in the youth club looking at artefacts, making stone henge, playing games and finding out lots of new information.

Next week Poppies will be being sold- see newsletter for more information.

We also have lots of exciting ideas for Divali on Wednesday, including making diva lamps.

Home learning. The children have been given their new spellings to practise and the next 4 in their diaries. Reminder to continue practising times tables as this is our focus this term.

Thank you for you support,

DaVinci team.

We have had a busy final week in DaVinci class. The children have been finishing off their topics and are excited to start our new topics after half term. They have completed some fantastic art collages with Mrs Ansari and have enjoyed finishing their stories.

Just a reminder we have PE on Monday and Thursday as some children still do not have their PE kits on the correct day. The children have taken their PE kits home to be washed so make sure they come back after half term.

Stone Age to Iron Age workshop- letters have been sent home regarding our Stone Age to Iron Age workshop. This will take place on 5th November and payments are to be paid  through parent pay. I'm confident that the children will have a fantastic day and learn lots ahead of our topic.

Home Learning- children need to continue with home reading and times tables practise over half term. I have also given out spellings for them to learn and the next 4 spellings in the diary.

Have a great half term,

Da Vinci team.

Another busy week in Da Vinci we have created some fantastic art work for our Da Vinci class display, we have also been focusing on subtraction in maths and have written our own fantastic stories in English linked to natural disasters.

Open Day- On Tuesday 16th October the school will be open for you all to see our fantastic learning environments. Our class will be singing at 9:35am, 10:35am and 2pm in our classroom so if you are looking around School make sure you pop in.

Home school diaries- Just a reminder to make sure you are writing any home-reading in the children's diaries as some diaries are yet to have any entries logged. New spellings have been given out and we will also be testing the next 4 spellings from the Y3/4 list (in diaries).

Thanks for your support,

Da Vinci team.

This week the children have moved onto looking at different methods of addition and subtraction. In English we have started to plan our own stories based on 'Escape from Pompeii' and we have been focusing on the layers of the Earth and Volcanoes in Geography and Science.

Our diaries have now arrived which means that any home reading needs to be written into diaries and they will be checked on Thursday's. We also need to continue practising times tables and these will be tested in class. In regards to spellings the spelling grids will still be sent home on Friday's and will be tested the following Friday. In addition to this, the children will also need to learn the first four spellings from the Y3/4 Autumn grid (Accident, Actual, Actually, Address). Each week we will move onto the next four.
