20th September 2019

This week we have been writing a diary entry in the role of ‘Shane’ from Way Home.  In maths we have been rounding numbers up to 100 000 000. In the afternoons we have continued looking at the role of monarchs and the impact they had, planning experiments and drawing portraits.

Home learning this week is to continue with TTRS, spelling shed and I have also asked the class to keep a diary over the weekend and bring this in on Monday to share with the everyone. I am aware that some children already keep diaries, however, I have asked for this to be done on paper. This is to avoid children bringing in personal diaries. I have also asked for any information that they do not wish to share with the class to be left out.

Reminders:

PE kits MUST be in school all week and forest school is on a Thursday.

The PTFA AGM meeting is on Tuesday 24th September, in school @ 6:30pm. Everyone welcome.

We are updating the extreme reading board in school, new pictures needed please.

The Book Fair starts on Monday!

Next Friday we are having the annual Macmillan coffee morning, in school, from 1:30 – 3:30. Please can donations of cakes, biscuits etc. be brought in to school to help us support this event. It would also be lovely to see many of you in the afternoon.

Happy weekend!

Friday 13th September

We have had a great week of learning!

In maths we have been working on place value and in English we have started work on our class novel ’Way Home’.

During the afternoons we have enjoyed our first French lesson, experimenting with magnets, drawing self-portraits and learning about how portraits were used for propaganda.

Home learning this week will be cracking comprehension, times tables and spellings.

Please can earrings be removed ASAP.

Please remember to check the class twitter page.

Have a great weekend!

The Mackintosh team.

Friday 6th September

Welcome back!

We have had a lovely few days settling back in and getting used to routines. It has been lovely to see how much the class have grown as individuals and in confidence.

I am very excited about this year, there are lots of fun and exciting opportunities for Mackintosh. We will be working closely with Ringgold a few afternoons a week to enhance the children’s learning. They are enjoying the responsibility of being the oldest in the school and setting the standard. Monitor jobs have been given out, the children are taking to these extremely well.

Reading books have been chosen by the children and these can be changed as and when they finish the book. Diaries are due to arrive in the next few weeks.

Just a few reminders:

Earrings are not to be worn in school and need taking out ASAP.

Water bottles should be in school every day.

PE kits need to be in school all week.

Children are expected to do 30 minutes reading a day.

Forest school is on a Thursday for the next 6 weeks, children need to bring suitable clothing and footwear for being outside.

Home learning will be set weekly, starting from next week. This will consist of: spelling shed, times table rock stars, and occasionally cracking comprehension.

Have a lovely weekend, the Mackintosh team.
