All of the children have come back into school in the new year refreshed, happy and ready to learn; their attitudes have been fantastic and we have had a productive first week back.

As part of our DT project this week the children have used a variety of different skills to design and create a healthy sandwich - they loved planning, making, and (most importantly) tasting them.

This week's spellings are not on Spelling Shed due to an error from our end but they are here below on our class page.

We have had a great first week back in school and the children have been brilliant with their attitude towards their learning.

This half term we have started looking at the book Ice Palace, where we have been writing setting descriptions this week.

In maths we are currently focusing on addition and subtraction, with us using the column method for both.

I have put this week’s spellings on Spelling Shed. The ‘Weekly Spellings’ will be tested next week. The ‘Challenge Words’ are taken from the year 3 and 4 Statuary Spelling list and can be played alongside the weekly spellings, but will not be tested on next week.

Continue to use Times Table Rock Stars, I have also sent home a paper copy of some three times tables this week.

Have a great weekend.

We have had another brilliant week and the children have been working incredibly hard in every area of learning. In maths, we have now moved on to addition and subtraction, with the children learning new strategies that will help them when adding and subtracting.

I have put this week's spellings on Spelling Shed, as well as sending home the spellings in paper format. Please access and complete both.

I have also sent home a set of times tables for the week, these are to be completed before the children are tested on them next Thursday. Also, the children must continue to use Times Table Rockstars.

Have a great weekend.

Good afternoon. Another great week has been spent in Da Vinci class, where we have been learning how to perform poetry, continuing with our place value work and we have also been using online tools, as well as atlases, to investigate the United Kingdom. After that, the children independently created their own 3D maps of Blackrod.

The spellings for the week are now up on Spelling Shed, please practise as much as you can.

We are unfortunately having faults with Cracking Comprehension at the moment so there is nothing set for this next week.

Continue with Times Table Rockstars over the week.

We are still waiting on the home school diaries.

Thanks

Mr Eccleston

We have had a another great week here in Da Vinci Class. This week, in English, we have been learning how to independently edit our own work. In maths we have been continuing with our place value work and in our challenge curriculum work we have been investigating Leonardo Da Vinci.

I have now uploaded the spellings for this week to Spelling Shed, as well as setting work on Times Table Rockstars and Cracking Comprehension. Please ensure your children are accessing these throughout the week.

The Book Fair starts on Monday!

Next Friday we are having the annual Macmillan coffee morning, in school, from 1:30 – 3:30. Please can donations of cakes, biscuits etc. be brought in to school to help us support this event. It would also be lovely to see many of you in the afternoon.

We have had a fantastic first full week back in school and the children settled well into our routines. This week the children have been writing diary entries from the point of view of children who worked in coal mines during the early 1900s, with them producing some excellent pieces of work.

We are still waiting for delivery of our new home/school diaries. We will get those out to you as soon as possible.

PE is on Mondays and Tuesdays so please remember to have kit in school during the week. Our focus for the first half term is rugby and netball.

Have a great weekend.

Mr Eccleston
