Spring Term

Friday 6th March

What a fantastic week we have had! The staff and children in Picasso Class have had a brilliant week focusing on 'The Princess and the Pea' story. We have been writing invitations to our family and friends to attend the Royal Wedding, we have been counting the mattresses in 2's and we finished the week with a fabulous trip to go and watch a performance of The Princess and The Pea! The children's behaviour was exemplary.

We have also been finding out lots of facts about the Queen and what her role is. The children were very surprised to know that she has 3 houses and she was the queen at 25 years old!

Next week we will be taking part in Science week looking at our Diverse Planet. We have lots of exciting activities to take part in and can't wait to learn more exciting things!

Have a lovely weekend, and don't forget to have a look at our Picture News document and discuss this with your child.

Thank you for your continued support,

The Picasso Team.

Friday 28th February

What a fabulous week we have had! We have started our new project this term of 'Dreams really do come true' and our first book that we have focused on is The Frog Prince.

The children have really enjoyed looking at the life cycle of a frog and have drawn some of their own. They have also been counting in twos using the frogs eyes to help them.

We have also celebrated pancake day looking at how we celebrate it and how others celebrate. We made our own pancakes and tasted pancakes for snack!

The children designed their own pancakes with their favourite toppings on and made shopping list for what they would need for their pancakes.

Reminders:

Next Thursday is our first class trip to go and see and join in with The Princess and the Pea. Please ensure you have paid for this on Parent Pay to ensure we are able to go. - We will be dressing up as something from the princess and the pea, not an inspirational person as we will be on our trip.

Next Friday (6th) the school nurse will be coming into school to check the children's heights and weights.

Have a lovely weekend,

The Picasso Team

Friday 17th January

We have had a fabulous first couple of weeks back. Our new topic is ' I Have a Dream', where we will be focusing on our aspirations, what we want to be when we are older and significant people that help us. The quality texts that we will be covering are in the English section of our class web page.

This week we have be continuing work based on the book Giraffes can't dance. We have been talking about what we can do and what we can't do YET.

The children have also been working extremely hard to add using concrete resources such as cubes and numicon.

REMINDER: snack money has not be paid for by a significant amount of parents. Please could you check your parent pay to cover costs of snack.

Snack consists of, but is not limed to, foods including brioche, cheese and crackers, waffles with/ without jam, fruit, veg sticks and dips etc.

Can we also ensure that all children's shoes are labelled clearly as well as any other items of uniform as it proves very difficult to find children's belongings after PE and Forest school if they have misplaced them.

Have a lovely weekend

Friday 31st January

We have had a super week in Picasso class being artists and creating lots of 'Ish' paintings and drawings.

The children have really enjoyed getting into character like Raymond in our book of the week 'Ish' - they have created some amazing art work and writing based on the story - have a look on twitter and our project page on the website to see some super pictures.

The children have also been working hard with addition again this week, using concrete objects to add 1 digit numbers.

Don't forget that on Wednesday it is Aspiration Day for EYFS - Children are invited to come into school dressed as what they would like to be when they are older. We are looking forward to see what the children aspire to be.

Have a lovely weekend,

The Picasso Team
