* The Olympics started in Greece many years ago and the sports were very different.
* The 2016 Olympics are being held in Rio, Brazil. (It would take 13 hours and 40 minutes to fly there from Manchester).
We also got change to experience playing different sports. Such as:
* A mini Olympics (athletics).
* Playing Boccia (which is a Paralympic sport).
* Fencing and tennis.
* Taking part in Karate and learned how to play the drums in the style of Brazilian music.

On Wednesday 22nd June Year 2 went to Blackpool. We travelled by coach and it took us around an hour to get there. We were very busy and got up to lots of activities.
First we made sandcastles.
Then we went for a walk along the pier (We also had a dance)
After that we had lunch in the circus and watched the show.
Then we went to the 4D cinema and up to the top of the tower.
On Thursday 23rd June Year 2 completed their sponsored walk to Vicarage Road Park. We enjoyed playing on the park and even had an ice lolly to help us cool down.
WHOLE SCHOOL WALK
On Monday the whole school took part in a fitness walk around the school. It was such a lovely afternoon in the sunshine.
Year 2 took part in the Easter activity of making Easter bonnets. All of the creations were fantastic and it was really hard to judge the winners. I think we have some budding fashion designers and models on our hands.
SPORTS RELIEF 2016
On Thursday 17th March Year 2 took part in Sports Relief Day. Our day began with an exhausting morning workout with Miss Parr. Then throughout the day we took part in a fitness course around the school. We all got very hot!
On Friday 4th March Mrs McGrail and Year 2 were shocked to see that it had snowed. Mrs McGrail decided there was only one thing to do on a day like this...... to go out and have some fun!
We had lots of fun at the Valentines disco. We got to play games, dance and even ate some delicious tasty treats.
CHINESE NEW YEAR 2016
On Monday 1st February we celebrated Chinese New Year. 2016 marks the year of the monkey. In the morning we had a special assembly with lion/dragon dancers. It was amazing!
