Science
'Could you be the next Jessica Ennis?'
(Animals, including humans)
So far in our new topic we have been investigating which exercise makes our heart beat faster. We also found out when you exercise you get:
* hot
* out of breath
* red cheeks
* sweaty
We have designed a healthy lunchbox and can name some unhealthy foods. Also we have been learning about life cycles. We know all about the life cycle of a frog.
ROCKET SCIENCE PLANT PROJECT
Year 2 are taking part in the RHS Rocket Science experiment. During this project we will be:
* Comparing growth of two types of seeds.
* Understanding what makes plants grow - soil, water and light.
'WHAT IS YOUR SCHOOL MADE OUT OF?' (Materials)
Year 2 have been identifying different materials and their uses. We have been on a material hunt around school and have tried to explain why some materials are used for certain objects. We have also discussed the properties of different materials.
FLOATING AND SINKING
In our Science topic this term we are going to be carrying out lots investigations to do with floating and sinking.
We will be real scientists because we will be making predictions on what we think will happen.
'WHY IS AUTUMN AMAZING?'
(Seasonal Changes)
In Science we have been exploring the school grounds looking for signs of Autumn. Miss Holmes helped us to create a hedgehog made out of leaves. We will be keeping a weather diary for autumn and we will be taking the temperature with a thermometer.
'WHY WOULD AN ELEPHANT NOT MAKE A GOOD PET?'
(Living things and their habitat)
In Science we have been identifying things that are living, dead and those that have never been alive.
We have been able to explore habitats around the school grounds (the forest area, the grass and the secret garden).
We have also identified different habitats around the world including desert, polar, rainforests and ponds).
As part of our reflection for this topic we used our Scientific vocabulary to answer our challenge question. We had some great answers and they are recorded in out class floor book.
