R.E
Hinduism
As part of our R.E we have been learning all about Hinduism. We found out that Hinduism originated in India thousands of years ago. Hindu's believe that there is 1 God who takes many forms including Shiva, Brahama and Vishnu. We looked at these God's and looked at who they were. We also investigated different symbols of Hinduism - we found out that in a Temple/Mandir (Hindu place of worship) they have a main shrine, a bell and their own hindu symbol.
Hindu's celebrate Diwali. This year we celebrated Diwali by having our very own dance workshop. We found out that at Diwali Hindu's have parties with lots of yummy food. It is very similar to the Christian festival of Christmas. Hindu's light lanterns, create rangoli patters and dance to celebrate Diwali.
We found out that Diwali came from the Story of 'Rama and Sita' we learnt all about this and sequenced and re-wrote the story.
We finished off our learning by taking a visit to a real Mandir. We loved seeing all the different parts of the Mandir and finding out more information about Hinduism.
